It’s playtime at Buckie care home

18 June 2021

A new play area for local children has been created at a Buckie care home.

Staff at Parklands & Burnbank care home have built the new facility in the grounds to cater for local schools, nurseries and the children of care staff and residents’ families.

Covid restrictions mean it is still not possible for local schools and nurseries to visit residents indoors.

Lisa Toogood, activities coordinator at Parklands & Burnbank explained: “The residents are missing their regular visits from local schools and nurseries. With restrictions on indoor school visits still in place, we decided to build our own play area in the grounds so that residents could see and hear the children playing and laughing. Intergenerational learning is very important to us at Parklands & Burnbank.

“The kids loved the play area and are all looking forward to coming back soon and the residents were delighted to see them. I plan to take my own kids and their friends up for a picnic and play very soon.

“We couldn’t have built the play area without donations of toys and outdoor equipment from the local community. Once again, the folk of Buckie have done us proud.”
