Work has begun this week on a new care home in Grantown.
Independent care home provider Parklands Group is investing £4.5 million on the new 40 bed facility, the first purpose built care home in the town for decades. Construction company CHAP has started work on the site in the town’s Seafield Avenue.
Representatives from Parklands and CHAP held a ground breaking ceremony to mark the start of construction work. The new care home is expected to open in spring 2018, creating up to 70 part time jobs (50 full time equivalents).
Ron Taylor, Managing Director of Parklands Group, said: “We are really excited to start work on this project, our largest ever investment. It is a tremendous boost for Grantown, both in terms of the number of jobs the new care home will create and because of the additional care capacity it will provide for the town’s growing elderly population.
“We know there is a pressing need for care capacity in Grantown and across the Highlands. We believe our investment will help meet this need, with a state of the art facility offering high quality care in a stunning Highland setting.”
