A Tain care home has been given a 5-star rating by the sector’s independent regulator.
Innis Mhor, part of the Parklands Care Homes group, was assessed during an unannounced visit by the Care Inspectorate in January, during which inspectors spoke to residents, their relatives and staff.
Innis Mhor was given a 5-star (very good) rating for the way it supports people’s wellbeing and the quality of its leadership.
Inspectors noted: “People's needs were met to a high standard by a committed, caring and professional staff team. There were trusting relationships between staff and the people they supported. Staff supported people in a kind and caring manner and encouraged people to retain and build on their skills and independence."
The report added: “There were visible, competent and confident leaders in place and staff felt well supported by the management team.”
Connections with the local community were being maintained. “People were enjoying interesting and varied activities, and staff were continuing to connect people to their local communities,” the report said.
The report also said that residents and relatives were encouraged to have their say on the running of the home through regular meetings and were supported to participate and contribute to individual care reviews.
Relatives said they felt reassured that their loved ones were being well cared for by a competent and knowledgeable care team.
Kate Walker who manages Innis Mhor said: “I am absolutely thrilled for the team at Innis Mhor who work hard to provide the very highest standard of care and support for our residents. Everyone makes a contribution regardless of their role – from the cleaners to the kitchen staff, to the carers and nurses. It is very much a team effort and I couldn’t be prouder of them.”
Ron Taylor, managing director of Parklands, added: “Kate and the team do a fantastic job at Innis Mhor, not only in providing high levels of care but in ensuring our residents enjoy their life to the full.”
