Visiting our care homes

Updated: 5 January 2021

Introduction

A new fast-spreading variant of the Covid-19 virus has been identified. In view of the rapid increase in transmission of the virus across Scotland, and in line with Scottish Government regulations, the following visiting arrangements now apply across our care homes:

Indoor visits

Only essential indoor visits are permitted at our care homes at this time.

Essential visits include circumstances where it is clear that the person’s health and wellbeing is changing for the worse, where visiting may help with communication difficulties, to ease significant personal stress or other pressing circumstances, including approaching end of life.

Window visits

In order to ensure the comfort of residents, outdoor visits are not available at this time. However, window visits are permitted, provided they are arranged in advance with care home managers.

All essential indoor and window visits must be pre-arranged with the relevant care home manager. Contact details are available on this page>

Remote contact

For relatives unable to visit, we continue to offer phone and video communication with loved ones.

Safety first

We have a duty of care to our residents and staff. During any visit, including window visits, please follow the instructions of our staff at all times.

Do not visit our care homes if you have the following symptoms:

  • a new continuous cough
  • a high temperature
  • a loss of, or change in, your normal sense of taste or smell
  • If you have these symptoms, you should consult www.nhsinform.scot

It is important that all visitors follow this essential guidance which is in place to protect residents, staff and visitors.
