Plans for a new community pharmacy in Aberlour have been approved by The Moray Council.
Parklands Care Homes, which owns and operates the pharmacy, plans to relocate the facility to a new purpose built unit on the site of the former Central Garage on the High Street, as part of a £200,000 investment in the village.
The new building will house a sales area, medication preparation area, consulting room, store, office and staff area.
Tenders for the construction of the new pharmacy are expected to go out before the end of this year, with work on the site starting in the spring of 2020.
As well as serving the local community, the pharmacy also provides pharmaceutical supplies to Parklands’ eight care homes. Parklands also operates a free community delivery service for patients across Speyside.
Ron Taylor, managing director of Parklands Care Homes, said: “The current building has served the village well but the pharmacy is expanding and we need a new purpose built facility to serve the local community, as well as our care homes.
“The new building will enable us to grow the business, recruit additional staff and offer an enhanced service to local people.”
