Parklands Carer shortlisted for Highland Young Employee of the Year

9 November 2021

A carer at Urray House in Muir of Ord has been shortlisted for a prestigious award at this year's Highland Business Awards.

Niamh Clark only joined Parklands last year with no care experience but has quickly made her mark. In its submission to the Highland Business Awards, Parklands said: "Niamh joined Urray House in August 2020, aged 19, but has quickly made a positive contribution to the care home operation and is already a greatly valued member of the care team.

"Her progress and development has been impressive. Niamh is currently completing her SVQ level 3 to progress to a Shift Leader position after completion, and has proved adept at harnessing her new knowledge at work, thereby improving the quality of service she provides. She is also willing to share her knowledge and learning with her colleagues, again to benefit the residents.

"She is an inspiration for other aspiring care professionals of her age and someone with a great deal of potential for the future."

Ron Taylor, Managing Director of Parklands, said: "Niamh has only been with us for a short time but her caring attitude towards residents, support for fellow colleagues and her determination to learn new skills means she has really made her mark."

The awards will be held on Thursday 25 November.

Niamh recently wrote about her work as a carer in the Inverness Courier. You can read an interview with her and some of her colleagues here>
