Grantown’s new multi-million pound care home for older people has welcomed its first residents.
Independent care home provider Parklands Group has invested £4.5 million on Lynemore, its eighth care home and the largest single investment to date by the company, which this year celebrates its 25th anniversary.
The 40 bed care home, located on Seafield Avenue, features four small group living wings, each with a day room, dining room and 10 spacious en-suite bedrooms, all with Skype. Lynemore also offers an activities room, hairdresser, café and two sensory gardens.
Around 50 full time equivalent jobs are being created in the town.
Lynemore will offer palliative, respite and residential care.
Parklands managing director Ron Taylor said: “We are very proud of what we have achieved at Lynemore and look forward to welcoming our first residents. As with all of our care homes, Lynemore will be very much rooted in the local community, creating employment for local people and providing a care facility that is closely integrated with local health services, schools and community groups.
“Our rooms are substantially larger than the industry minimum and offer a level of comfort and space that really sets Lynemore apart.“
Lynemore is the latest investment by Parklands in the Highlands, with new care facilities also earmarked for Fortrose and Inverness. By 2020, Parklands will have invested £16 million over three years on new and extended care homes, creating around 200 new jobs and making it one of the largest private sector employers in the north of Scotland.
