Parklands’ care homes in Grantown and Aberlour were bursting with Pride this weekend as they played host to two local drag queens, and gained a seal of approval from Drag royalty.
Miss Lossie Mouth and Venus Guytrap were performing at the opening of Parklands Pride, a series of five events taking place at care homes in Moray and the Highlands.
At Lynemore in Grantown and Aberlour in Speyside, the audience was treated to 80 minutes of entertainment as Miss Lossie Mouth evoked the timeless charm of Judy Garland and Liza Minnelli with her classic renditions. Meanwhile, Venus Guytrap, delivered a powerful medley of hits from legendary artists such as Frank Sinatra, Tina Turner, Stevie Wonder, Whitney Houston, and Shirley Bassey.
The spectacular performances struck a chord with the audience and even caught the attention of Drag royalty as Michelle Visage, a judge on RuPaul’s Drag Race tweeted her support for the event to her 650,000 followers, describing it as “gorgeous.”
Donald Morrison, director of communications for Parklands Care Homes, said: “We couldn’t have asked for a better opening to Parklands Pride. Miss Lossie Mouth and Venus Guytrap were absolutely fabulous and the residents adored every moment of their performances. We can’t wait to bring the show to our other care homes.”
Parklands Pride continues with more shows in Muir of Ord, Fortrose and Tain to follow. As well as hosting its own Pride events, Parklands is a sponsor of Highland Pride.
