A Moray care home is to launch 'Summer at Speyside,' a five-week programme of activities and entertainment for children of all ages.
Aberlour’s Speyside Care Home, known for its strong ties to the local community, aims to provide a fun-filled summer experience for children while fostering intergenerational connections.
With a different theme each week, Summer at Speyside promises to keep children entertained and inspired throughout the long summer holidays. From arts and crafts to garden games, teddy bears picnics, cake decorating, and a musical and storytelling afternoon, the programme has something for every child to enjoy.
Louise Gillies, Manager at Speyside Care Home, said: "We are delighted to launch Summer at Speyside, offering a diverse range of activities that cater to children of all ages. Our aim is to create a welcoming and inclusive environment where children can have fun, make new friends, and build connections with our residents.
“We all know it can be expensive to keep kids entertained during the school holidays. Summer at Speyside will be free, and provides the perfect opportunity for children to try new experiences, discover hidden talents and create lasting memories. My mum ran a play scheme for many years when my sisters and I were little. We loved it."
Summer at Speyside is open to children of all ages, and each child must be accompanied by a responsible adult. The program will kick off on July 11th and will run every Tuesday, from 2.30-4.00pm, until August 8th.
To ensure a safe and enjoyable experience, participation is limited, so early registration is encouraged. To reserve a slot, visit the Speyside Facebook page at facebook.com/SpeysideCareHome
Speyside is a five-star rated care home and actively engages with the local community through initiatives like its pop-up tea-room and recently launched choir. A recent Care Inspectorate report found that links between the home and the local community were “very good” and that residents “were visible and included in their community.”
