Care home staff endure early morning dook to raise funds

28 July 2021

Plucky staff from a Buckie care home have raised a four-figure sum for residents after taking part in a wild swim event.

Seventeen staff from Netherha Care Home took an early morning dip at picturesque Strathlene Beach near Buckie. The early risers took to the sea at 6am to raise money for the residents’ comfort fund which pays for entertainment and visits into the community.

Staff raised an impressive £1408 through sponsorship.

The swimmers were rewarded with a warming bacon roll and tea at Bijou by the Sea in Buckie.

Activities Coordinator Caroline Cameron, who organised the event, said: “We were joined by a few seals who were getting a bit too close for our liking but otherwise it was great fun. Conditions were good although it was very cold. A few of us have continued going for an early morning dook since it was so much fun!

“Every penny will be used to provide activities, entertainment and fun days out for our residents, so thank you to everyone who sponsored us.”
