Parklands People: Andzelika (Angel) Felczykowska

At Parklands Care Homes, we’re proud to celebrate the dedicated individuals who bring warmth, compassion, and joy to the lives of our residents. One of them is Andzelika Felczykowska, better known as Angel, a carer at Urray House in Muir of Ord.

Angel grew up in Świecie, a picturesque town in Poland known for its charming architecture, rich history, and welcoming community. After completing her education at the Technical School of Economics, she and her family made the decision to start a new chapter in life and moved to Scotland in 2007.

“I wanted to experience life abroad, a life with bigger opportunities for education for my children and myself,” she explains.

Angel’s passion for caring began at a young age. “From childhood, helping with care for my grandparents made me feel like I wanted to continue caring for the elderly at some point in the future,” she explains.

While living in Perth, Angel took her first steps into the care sector, inspired by her childhood experience. After moving to Ross-shire to be closer to her partner and his family, she discovered Parklands Care Homes. After seeing the excellent reviews, she knew it was the perfect place to combine her passion for care with the high standards of a trusted provider.

Though adjusting to a new country and overcoming language barriers presented challenges, Angel credits her colleagues at Parklands for their kindness and support.

“It was a massive step, especially with my language barrier, but this has improved over the years with Parklands. I found my colleagues very understanding, helpful, and patient, with massive support every day from the whole company,” she says.

As a carer at Urray House, Angel supports residents with personal care, nutrition and hydration, moving and handling, emotional wellbeing, and activities. From one-on-one time with residents to group events like continental breakfasts or coffee afternoons, Angel’s days are full of opportunities to spread positivity. She is also training to become one of three mentors at Urray House, helping new care team members settle into their roles.

Angel finds her role deeply rewarding. “I think it’s a very good profession and a rewarding job,” she says. “There’s a massive opportunity to make a real difference in someone’s life, whether it’s providing comfort, companionship, or helping with daily tasks. For me, the relationships are incredibly rewarding.”

One of her favourite parts of the job is seeing the joy she brings to residents. “I enjoy spreading my positive energy, which makes residents happy every day. Seeing smiling faces on the residents makes me feel so important in their lives,” she says.

Angel is keen to encourage others to consider a career in care. “I would recommend care as a career to anyone because I feel like you can make a positive difference in people’s lives. Helping others, especially the elderly, can be very satisfying. It can be hard at times when people are ill, but it’s rewarding as you’re helping them and their families through tough times,” she explains.

With her dedication and positive energy, Angel has become an integral part of the Urray House team. As she steps into her role as a mentor, she looks forward to continuing to make a difference in the lives of residents and inspiring new carers to join the profession.
