Residents at Urray House care home in Muir of Ord enjoyed a fairytale performance from local charity Mikeysline as part of Time to Talk Day, a nationwide initiative promoting mental health awareness.
Mikeysline Events and Fundraising Co-ordinator Michelle Newell, an accomplished singer, delighted residents by performing as Alice from Alice in Wonderland, singing Getting to Know You before leading a singalong and joining residents for a chat over a cuppa. She was joined by Urray House carer Andzelika (Angel) Felczykowska and activities coordinator Debbie Ironside, who dressed as the Queen of Hearts and the White Rabbit.
Mikeysline, one of two charity partners chosen by Parklands employees, is planning a series of mental health and wellbeing activities across Parklands’ care homes. As a special gift, the charity presented each resident at the tea party with a souvenir bumblebee, the symbol of Mikeysline.
Urray House manager Debbie Young said: "The afternoon was a huge success. All the residents were in great spirits – they loved it when Alice stopped to say hello. Michelle was a fantastic performer and really connected with our residents, using the power of song to brighten their day. Recognising Time to Talk Day was important for us, as mental health can impact anyone, no matter their age, and it’s a great reminder that it’s always good to talk.”
