Residents help Deveron Way bloom this summer

Visitors to Deveron Way Care Home in Huntly are in for a colourful welcome this summer after residents transformed the entrance to their home with a striking new plant display.

The project, which has been months in the making, brought together residents, staff and volunteers, who painted pots, selected flowers and plants, and nurtured them until they were ready to be planted in the display.

The idea came from deputy manager Angie Hayes, who wanted to give residents the opportunity to put their own stamp on the home. Support from a community fundraiser held at Huntly Golf Club earlier this year helped make the project possible.

Angie said: "We wanted residents to create something they could be proud of and something that would show off their creativity to everyone who visits. This is their home, after all.

"The residents have loved being involved at every stage, from painting the pots and choosing the plants to helping look after them. They'll continue caring for the display throughout the summer and we'll adapt it with seasonal planting in the months ahead."

She added: "We're also very grateful to everyone who supported the fundraiser at Huntly Golf Club. Their generosity helped make this project possible and has given residents something they can enjoy for months to come."
