New 12-bed extension part of multi-million-pound investment in region
Care services in Strathspey are set for a major boost as plans for a new extension to Grantown's Lynemore Care Home have been approved.
The extension will include 12 new en-suite bedrooms, a new dining area with a covered outdoor terrace, a quiet space for residents, accessible bathrooms and shower facilities, a staff room, and additional parking spaces.
Work on the £1.8 million project is expected to start in September, with residents moving into the home in the summer of 2027.
Ron Taylor, Managing Director of Parklands Care Homes, said: “We’re delighted to receive planning approval for the extension at Lynemore Care Home. Lynemore is a beautiful home in a stunning setting, and the demand for places there is incredibly strong. This extension will allow us to provide more residents with the high-quality care they need. We look forward to starting work this autumn and welcoming our first residents early next summer.”
The extension is part of a wider £18 million investment plan by Parklands, which will add 94 beds across the north and northeast by next year. This includes a new 60-bed care home in Turriff, alongside extensions to several existing care homes, including Lynemore.
Mr Taylor added: “We’re proud to invest in the future of care across the region. These new developments address the increasing demand for high-quality care from a growing older population and will ensure that more people can access the care they need within their own community.”
Lynemore, which opened in 2018, currently accommodates up to 40 residents.
