We are looking for a Relief Ancillary Assistant who is dedicated to making every moment count, regardless of their qualifications or experience.

As a Relief Ancillary Assistant, you will need to be adaptable and able to work efficiently in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment. You will be responsible for providing essential coverage across pantry, domestic and laundry areas, ensuring high standards of hygiene, cleanliness, and service for the home. This role is vital in maintaining a comfortable and safe environment for our residents, relatives and staff.

The Role...

  • Clean all areas of the care home including bedrooms, communal areas, bathrooms, and specialist rooms.
  • Vacuum, mop, shampoo carpets, dust, polish, and sanitise high-touch surfaces and furnishings.
  • Clean internal windows, skirting boards, light switches, door handles, and chair cushions.
  • Prepare and refresh rooms for new admissions, including cleaning and arranging furnishings.
  • Manage and report stock levels of cleaning materials and maintenance issues.
  • Adhere to infection control and health & safety procedures at all times.
  • Collect, launder, dry, iron, and return residents’ clothing and home linens.
  • Ensure correct handling of residents' garments with attention to hygiene and dignity.
  • Operate laundry equipment in line with Health & Safety guidelines.
  • Prepare and serve breakfasts and light meals; assist with central catering service coordination.
  • Ensure resident dietary needs, food allergies, and preferences are respected and documented.
  • Set up tables, serve meals, and clear dining areas.
  • Maintain cleanliness of pantry, kitchenettes, and dining areas in line with food safety standards.
  • Monitor and log fridge/freezer temps and food hygiene checks according to “Cook Safe” practices.
  • Order, receive, and rotate food stock appropriately.
