Life at Parklands is about more than the care we provide. We want residents to feel comfortable, stay connected and enjoy the things that matter to them.
We believe living well is about meaningful connections: with people, places and lifelong interests, as well as new friendships and experiences. Life at Parklands is shaped around each resident.
From arts, music and our award-winning horticultural clubs to Pride celebrations, fashion shows, e-trike adventures, live performances and days out, life at Parklands can be as varied as the people who live here.
Our wellbeing teams work with residents to create activities and experiences that reflect the things they enjoy, while offering plenty of opportunities to discover new interests. Our homes also regularly welcome schools, nurseries, local groups, musicians and other visitors from the wider community.
Our kitchens serve fresh, home-cooked meals using quality local produce wherever possible. Menus are varied and take account of residents’ preferences, dietary needs and cultural requirements.
Residents can choose where they eat, whether in the dining room, their own room or another comfortable space in the home. Tea, coffee and snacks are available throughout the day.
Looking and feeling your best is an important part of everyday life. Hairdressers visit our homes regularly, while our teams can also help residents arrange appointments with dentists, opticians and chiropodists.
Residents are supported to maintain their own personal routines and preferences, with help available where needed.
Moving into a care home shouldn’t mean losing touch with the people and places that matter. Family and friends are welcome to visit at any time, with no set visiting hours.
We also help residents stay connected with their communities, enjoy familiar places and make new connections through friendships, interests and experiences.
We take care of many of the practical details that make everyday life easier. Our homes provide an in-house laundry service, with residents’ clothing washed, ironed and returned to them. Newspapers and magazines can also be ordered, with access to books and local library services.
Where possible, residents can remain with their existing GP, or we can help arrange registration with a local practice. Residents are also supported to maintain their religious beliefs and practices, with services held in many of our homes and support to attend their own place of worship where possible.
The people who live in our homes have rich lives and stories to share. We look for opportunities to celebrate those stories and recognise the contributions residents have made to their families, communities and wider society.
From personal milestones and achievements to important memories, we celebrate the experiences that have shaped residents’ lives.
Our VE Day film is one example of how we honour and share those experiences.
