A new dog-friendly café at Speyside Care Home has got off to a barking good start.
The first Barklands Café was held at the Aberlour care home this week, bringing residents and local dog walkers together over a cuppa.
The café has already shown exactly why it was launched. Several of the visitors were relatively new to the area, giving them an opportunity to meet people locally while residents enjoyed getting to know some new faces and their dogs.
Louise Gillies, Manager at Speyside Care Home, said: “We were delighted with our first Barklands Café. It was lovely to see the dogs coming in and the residents really enjoyed meeting them and their owners. Being part of the local community is really important to us, and it was particularly nice that some of our visitors hadn’t lived in the area for long. It gave them a chance to meet people too.”
The Barklands Café will now become a regular event at Speyside Care Home, giving local dog walkers another reason to stop, paws and say hello. The café is open every Tuesday from 2.30pm to 3.30pm.
A second Barklands Café is set to open at Parklands’ Lynemore Care Home in Grantown on Spey later this month.
