Care home residents show their artistic flair at exhibition

2 November 2026

Residents at a Black Isle care home are putting their artistic talents on display, with a colourful collection of hand-painted coasters now on sale at an exhibition.

The coasters were created by residents of Eilean Dubh Care Home in Fortrose, with help from Highland artist Liz Peck, as part of her latest exhibition at Logie Steading Art Gallery near Forres.

Liz, whose mother Helena lives at Eilean Dubh, regularly volunteers at the Parklands care home, helping residents explore their artistic side through art classes and creative projects.

Liz said: “They really are lovely and the residents are justly proud of their creative efforts.”

All profits from the coasters will go towards the home's residents' comfort fund, which provides those special home-from-home extras that make life more enjoyable for residents.

The coasters are available at the gallery until the end of November.

Meanwhile, residents are putting the finishing touches to a striking Remembrance poppy display, another creative project developed with Liz's support.
